Equip Africa College Holds its Inaugural Graduation

Equip Africa College of Medical & Health Sciences has marked yet another milestone in its quest to become a premier college of medical & health sciences training in Africa! Tuesday 21st December, 2021 saw the College host its inaugural graduation ceremony with graduands from three departments joining the job market and further studies. The College is at the forefront in addressing the acute shortage of competent and compassionate healthcare professionals in the East African region and the whole of Africa. This is indeed in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s BIG4 Agenda and the Kenya Vision 2030.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the chief Guest, Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi (Vice-Chancellor, Mount Kenya University) congratulated the graduands for their well-deserved success. He added, “The road to graduation is a long, steep climb, so take a moment at the summit to be proud of your accomplishment. Graduation is not only a time to celebrate your accomplishment, but also a time to look forward to what tomorrow brings. May your tomorrow see you as happy as you are today. The work sector gains a very promising, competent and skilled new addition. I am sure today will be only the first of many proud, successful moments for you. Keep achieving, keep accomplishing, but never forget to keep the person you are trained to be by your profession: kind, caring and compassionate. I urge all of you not to tire in the search for knowledge and continue pursuing knowledge to enhance the skills and competencies that you have gained from your training.”

During the ceremony, Equip Africa Board of Directors (BoD) Chair, Dr. Christopher Mutembei reiterated the BoD’s commitment to continue offering the required support to the institutions of training under Equip Africa by providing adequate learning and training infrastructure and human resource that is dynamic and meet the needs of the industry; in order to fulfill the vision of becoming the regional centers of excellence in training and innovation.

The Equip Africa Executive Director, Prof. Evans Kerosi Somoni, encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunity to advance their academic careers with Equip Africa College of Medical and Health Sciences or Equip Africa Institute campuses in Nairobi, Thika, Kisii, Nakuru, Mombasa, Malindi, and Mombasa as their preferred choice. He assured them that they will not be disappointed.

Speaking at the graduation, the TVETA North Rift Regional Head, Ms. Phoebe Makanga, expressed her happiness for the fact that Equip Africa College was properly registered and the courses offered were all licensed. She further urged Kenyans to only enroll in institutions that have been inspected and fully accredited by TVETA. That way, they will have the Government’s assurance that the institution they enroll in has adequate infrastructure, equipment, qualified staff, approved curriculum, governance structures, and compliance with other set TVET standards. She added, “On behalf of TVET Authority, it gives me pleasure to witness a graduation of trainees who have successfully completed their quality training and are ready to join the labor market, advance their skills through further training or come up with innovations that will steer our country on the path of economic growth. Through engagement with the stakeholders in the TVET sub-sector, TVETA is in a better position to effectively carry out its mandate: To regulate, coordinate, promote and develop TVET system in Kenya.”

We take this opportunity to heartily congratulate the Equip Africa College Class of 2021 for their graduation!
